Devunipalli Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy

Devunipalli Narasimha Swamy temple is one of the temples of GOD Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, in peddapalli region, Karimnagar District,Telangana. The temple is located in devunipalli which is 2km far from peddapalli-Godavari khani highway. The main temple is situated at hillock place and two more temples have been built down the hill. Every year on the karthika purnima it is celebrated as swamy kalyanosthvam (Marraige) followed by a five day celebration. It ends with Rathosthvam(celestial charriot) of laxmi Narasimha swamy. Rathosthvam is the main event in the five day celebrations. The fifth day is very important in the celebrations, lot of piligrims from near by villages form Rompikunta, Andugula palli, Rangapuram and Pedda palli visit Narasimha Swamy temple for his kind blessings. Lakshmi Narasimha swamy is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Devunipalli Narasimha Swamy said to be swayambhu here, means swamy has chosen this place to be his temple on his own. Swamy naamalu(symbol of Lord Narasimha) and foot prints emerged in the cave of the hill. The temple is said to be built by Jains. Unlike all other temples this temple faces to west where all Hindu temples faces to the east.

STORY:

There is no historic story i found clearly behind Devunipalli Narasimha Swamy, but as of my knowledge a priest in the village has discovered the cave. But there is an interesting story behind the temple which is built down of the hill. The temple is dedicated to Ugra Narasimha Swamy, which is fierce form of the lord Narasimha. Once a huge stone fell from the hill. Surprisingly the huge stone is stopped in a slope place, instead supposed be fall on near by houses. The rock broke into two pieces and swamy emerged from the stones. The next day swamy appeared in the dream of person in the village and asked him to build a temple for him where the stone fell. As far as i know, the person is from a low caste and an orphan, Brought up by the village people. He happend to go to town and become rich.

ROUTE:

From peddapalli railway station Share autos are available. You can take a bus which goes to godavarikhani from peddapalli and getdown at andugula palli stage. From there you can take a walk of 2km or simply find an auto.
Devunipalli is a peacefull village, situated so far from the main highway. I like it because it is my native place.
